盛慶琜先生（Ching-Lai Sheng）
治校時期：1972年～1978年

盛慶琜先生（1919~2018），別號子東，浙江嘉興人。

1936年，先生畢業於上海中學，後考入交通大學機械系就讀。1944年，教育部招考公費留學生，先生以外系畢業生身份，通過考試。1945年前往英國，初在克朗頓派金森公司實習一年，次年入愛丁堡大學，1948年，取得博士學位。1949年，先生歸國，任教於台大電機系。1958年，交大籌議在台復校，先生被選為籌備委員之一。1962年，先生應加拿大渥太華大學邀聘，前往講學。1971年返台，於台大任客座教授一年；時正值劉浩春院長病歿，在各界校友及師生的推舉之下，先生於1972年榮膺母校工學院院長。

先生在六年院長任內，對校務的擘劃籌謀，深具宏遠思慮，例如展開收購光復校區土地、規劃擴建校舍、逐年增系等項工作。由於校地問題終獲解決，使我新竹交大數十年來之發展，得以有所依循與成長。工學院的任期屆滿後，先生離台赴加拿大任教；1985年，先生再度回國，被聘任為淡江大學管理科學研究所講座教授，退休後膺選為該校榮譽教授。

先生治校時期，重視社會與人文學科知識對學生的影響；勉勵我校學生，以「通古今、貫中西、融文理」為治學之道；重視通識教育對性格涵養的重要性，期望以理工見長的交大學生，可以朝向多元化發展。

先生好學深思，雖是理工背景出身，但對管理學與政治哲學，深具興趣，並持續鑽研。先生亦關懷社會，主張功利主義的社會哲學，自成體系，並將此理論稱為「統合效用主義」，完成相關中英文論著，並著有《電路系統》、《民生主義的經濟哲學》等書。
